What happens at the Pageant Training School

On the Pageant Training Day you will be taught a variety of different things to give you 'the winning edge' in beauty pageants and modelling competitions. Here are just a few of the things which our days will be covering:

Catwalk training - learn how to walk and pose

Learn how to walk like a professional model and pose at the end of the catwalk in our catwalk training class with Kerri. Kerri was originally taught catwalk in Ghana at the Model of the Universe finals in 2003 and has since taken to the catwalk for top names such as House of Fraser, and for the judges of 'Britain's Next Top Model' during their final rounds.

Kerri now brings everything she has learned in her years as a model to the Pageant Training School, teaching you a variety of walks and poses to impress the judges!

Don't worry if you do not have experience as Kerri has a huge collection of poses to show you, including basic poses for the beginner, and advanced poses for the more experienced girls.

To really succeed in pageants a model must understand that the pageant catwalk is very different to the fashion show catwalk, and every different round and outfit must have a different walk and pose depending on the music and what you are wearing.

Kerri will be teaching different ways to walk and pose on each round, to ensure you catch the judges eye and get top marks every time! You will also learn what the judges look for on the various rounds, and how to time your walk and poses perfectly once you have learned the techniques.

Kerri will also teach you a variety of stage routines to get you used to walking out as part of a group of girls, and get you used to the different stage formations you may come across in pageants, including the Model of the Year grand final!

Wardrobe training - learn what to wear

Unsure of what to wear to a beauty pageant for the various rounds? Kerri has put together the best outfits for every round to catch the judges eye - and shows you how to accessorize them with heels and jewellery. From the evening wear round to the swimsuit round, from club wear to casual wear or sports wear, Kerri will show you what will stand out and ensure you receive top marks every time!

Learn what outfits and colours get noticed and which ones to avoid, in a pageant judges won't have long to see you in each round so you need to ensure you stand out from the other girls from the moment you walk on stage.

Beauty advice - learn how to look your best

Under those stage lights your hair, make up and body need to look immaculate - as when you are at the end of the catwalk - all eyes will be on you!

Kerri will advise you on which products to use to ensure you look amazing on stage, and teach you how to apply your make up and style your hair.

Find out how to apply false eyelashes quickly and easily, and how to touch up your hair and make up quickly between rounds when time is of the essence!

You'll be able to see which products Kerri uses herself when she presents on stage - from hair and body products, to which make up brands are best under those harsh lights, to help you get shiny hair and glowing skin in your next pageant!

Impress the judges - learn what they are looking for

Kerri has judged numerous pageants alongside running Model of the Year and will teach you all the secrets on what judges actually look for in a winner.

Find out who the different types of judges may be i.e sports personality, TV personality, former beauty queen - and how to impress each and every one of them to ensure you receive top marks!

From the catwalk, to poise and posture, to your interview and how you present yourself on stage - Kerri will teach you how to have the winning edge throughout your pageant.

Public speaking training - learn how to perfect your interview

The dreaded on stage interview - the thing that girls always tell us they are most nervous about! When the spotlight is on you - as well as the eyes of the judges and over 500 guests it can be pretty nerve wrecking!

Kerri used to shy away from public speaking as a teenager and was too scared to even stand up and talk in class - and now she presents on stage to sometimes thousands of people at events!

Kerri will teach you how she overcome her nerves and how to look confident when you are being interviewed, how to address the presenter, the judges and the crowd and how to talk calm and collectively! Kerri will advise you on what sort of questions you may be asked, and how to give the perfect answer for each of them.

You will be asked about interesting hobbies or your job and studies to find something that you can talk about in pageants to show the judges you have brains as well as beauty. The interview is the section of the pageant where the judges make up their mind about who they want to win - so you will have the chance to practice interviews at the Pageant Training School to ensure yours wins you the crown on the night.

''I attended a Pageant Training Day ran by Kerri in London and had a great time. The Pageant Training School was an absolutely brilliant day, I got told lots of inside information and secrets on how to win a beauty pageant from Kerri!

I also perfected my "walk" for competitions and catwalk shows as well! Kerri really made me feel comfortable and encouraged me to try new things!

I really recommend this day to any new or established model. It was lovely to meet all of the other girls and have a great day out with the Academy team as well!''
