ABOUT THE ACADEMY

The Academy has been up and running for four years now, originally set up by Kerri to help new models get started out in the industry, the Academy has grown and grown and is now one of - if not the biggest model training school in the UK!

Over 1000 models have joined us as members of the Academy, and over 300 models from all over the UK have attended our Model Tutorial Days and training events!

Unlike other modelling companies which only use big names to front their services, or companies where you do not know who is behind them, the Academy is 100% owned by Kerri, so you know that the Academy is a brand you can trust!

Kerri has spent over 10 successful years as a full time model in the industry, travelling the world and appearing on front covers of magazines and newspapers, and has also just spent a year living every models dream in Hollywood as well - so there is no one better to gain advice from to help you get started out.

Since we opened the Academy it has been heavily featured in the press - with features in regional and national newspapers and magazines, television and news appearances, and live radio interviews with Kerri as well. Over the years the Academy has been heavily featured on the BBC for the work it is doing to help new models break into the industry whilst avoiding scams and being conned out of money. Kerri has become a spokeswoman for models rights, and her story has been seen by millions of people!

Kerri has always offered help and advice to new models starting out in the industry throughout her career but was soon unable to keep up with all the messages, so she created a simple website full of advice on how to get started out in the industry, and called it The Kerri Parker Academy! There was never much advice Kerri could offer in a simple email, and so she has spent the last four years writing hundreds of articles and tips on how to get started out - and put them all in one easy place to browse!

The Academy has since transformed from a tiny website to a nationwide modelling school, with Model Tutorial Days, portfolio shoots, beauty pageants...and much more! With the Academy's American launch with managers based in LA - the website is about to become a worldwide sensation, helping new models all over the globe get started out!

We strongly suggest girls always do their research and never part with money without being 100% sure the company is legit. Kerri is a well known model and is always featured in the press for the good she is doing helping new models with the Academy. The Academy has no hidden fee's, and members receive full access to the Academy website to apply for all the jobs, enter the contests, and read all the articles and sections on modelling - as well as getting advice from Kerri when they need it!
       

MODEL TRAINING

Kerri has personally written hundreds of articles and tips on how to become a fashion or glamour model, and has put them all in one easy place to browse! You'll even find advice articles on how to get started out as a Grid Girl, promotional model, and how to appear in music videos, TV shows, and even Hollywood movies as Kerri has done!

There are many model training schools offering advice, with girls often spending hundreds, and even thousands of pounds at them with the promise that they will become a model after wards! This is totally unnecessary, and Kerri never had any training or advice in starting out so it proves it can be done!

However when starting out as a model you are met with scams, the uncertainty of how to get started and what to do next, and can make mistakes which may be damaging to your career if you are given the wrong advice. This is where the Academy can help you!

The Academy offers our members continued training, guidance, and support when you need it, as well as making you aware of all the latest scams, modelling news, and contests around the UK which you can enter. You'll find it all in one easy place inside the Academy! We help existing models as well when they get stuck in a rut or need to further their careers, we don't just help those breaking into the industry!
   

BEATING THE SCAMS

Sadly the industry is now full of scams - from portfolio scams to agency scams, with new companies springing up every day to try and con new models out of their money. Many companies are also run by people who know nothing of the modelling industry, who's advice can do more harm than good to your career.

You'll also find sections on safety, and the many scams affecting new models - from agencies charging hundreds for you to join and then getting no work, to new beauty pageants springing up and charging hundreds to enter them.

There's also scams such as 'winning' a free makeover and photoshoot and then being pressure sold into spending up to a thousand pounds on images, and being told an agency will only take you on if you purchase one of their portfolio packages!

Inside the Academy you'll find lots of information on the different types of scams and how to protect yourself from them, many models always comment they wish they found the website first before spending hundreds on portfolio images and training. You'll also find more information on how to avoid portfolio scams in our section here.

The government report that it has now become illegal for agencies to charge upfront fee's for joining them, however they still get round this by charging for other things. This cincludes portfolios which have to be done through them, training days, image resizing, comp cards and much more. If an agency wishes to con you then they will always find a way despite new government legislation stopping them from charging upfront fee's.
 

Remember to do your research, and check inside The Academy for recommended agencies to join who do not charge fee's, and for more information on how to find a good agency. Don't forget there are lots of fantastic jobs inside the Academy to apply for as well, including fashion and catwalk jobs, glamour and lads magazine appearances, and even television, grid girl, and promotional work as well to apply for!
